Positive coping and resilience skills

Adult Resilience is one of the FRIENDS programs, which were created by Dr Paula Barrett. The FRIENDS programs are cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) based programs, endorsed by the World Health Organisation, as best practice for the prevention and treatment of anxiety and depression, promoting resilience in families, schools and communities.

Who is this program for?

This evidence-based program provides innovative, coping, resilience skills for adults of all ages and all walks of life. It is especially useful for parents, to increase their resilience, parenting skills and ensure the FRIENDS “language” is spoken at home.

Reviews

Understanding my girl’s emotions and how to comfort and support her. Understanding and interactions with her and understanding where she is coming from.

Being patient and more understanding and that it is okay to take a step back. It’s not about being the “perfect” parent it’s about the “trying” parent. Using different wording instead of trying to figure out what to say/do. Using a different space for rest time instead of a punishment. Just be there for them when they need you. Great course, so many different challenges and really helpful. Plus the ladies are awesome.

I gained a better understanding of the less well known aspects of ADHD in children. It was fabulous to learn about some strategies to use in managing and planning executive functioning difficulties. It was also empowering to recognise some of the strategies we already have in effect at home.
