We are thrilled to announce the recipients of this year's Centacare South West NSW Foundation Scholarships: Lauren Jorja Signor and Grace McLachlan!

Lauren Jorja Signor

Lauren, from Yenda, NSW, is pursuing a Bachelor of Social Work at Charles Sturt University. Her dedication to social work is evident in her involvement with the CSU Student Counselling and Wellbeing Team and her aspirations to impact Child Protection and Domestic Violence services.

Grace McLachlan

Grace, from Wagga, is studying for a Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology) at Charles Sturt University. Inspired by her social worker mother and police officer father, Grace is committed to supporting those in need through innovative approaches like music therapy.

Together, let’s nurture the next generation of mental health advocates.

Centacare welcomes Leo, a 5-year-old black labrador and certified therapy dog, to the SWP (School Wellbeing Program) team. Alongside his handler, Alice, Leo will bring joy and support to students in need.

Therapy dogs like Leo visit schools, nursing homes, and hospitals to provide comfort and happiness. Currently, Leo participates in Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT) during individual counselling sessions, much to the delight of the students he works with. In one case, a student with increasing school refusal has attended every day since starting counselling sessions with Leo.

The goal is to expand these interactions throughout the school to benefit even more students.

Join our 3-week online course for practical strategies and support in managing children with ADHD, fostering solidarity and empowerment among parents and carers.

Who is this course for?

Recommended for those with primary or early high school-aged children, this course aims to empower parents with practical strategies to cope with ADHD. It fosters solidarity and support among participants, encouraging the sharing of experiences and forming lasting friendships for ongoing support.
