How to get a Mental Health Treatment Plan

A Mental Health Treatment Plan (sometimes called a Mental Health Care Plan) is written by a GP. It's the only way to access the Medicare rebate and it works the same way for adults and for children, with a parent or carer attending the GP appointment.

Already have a plan?

Email it to us and we'll get you booked in.

Email your plan
01
Book a longer GP appointment
Ask your GP for a Mental Health Treatment Plan. Mention it when you book so reception allows extra time. The same process applies whether the plan is for you or your child.
02
Your GP writes the plan
The GP talks through what's happening, sets goals with you and refers you to your nominated psychologist. The plan unlocks a Medicare rebate on up to 10 sessions each calendar year.
03
Email the plan to us
Already have a plan? Just email it through - you don't need to start again. We'll match you with a psychologist and confirm your first appointment.
04
Prefer to skip the GP?
You can self-refer instead. Complete our self-referral form and email it back. You won't receive a Medicare rebate without a plan, but you can start straight away.
Fees are current at the time of publishing and are per standard session. Medicare rebates are set by Services Australia and paid after the session. Please talk to us if cost is a barrier - we'd rather have the conversation than see you go without support.
How to book

Here for you, no referral required

You don't need a referral to reach out. If you'd like the Medicare rebate, ask your GP for a Mental Health Treatment Plan first - otherwise, get in touch today.
