About the Role
We are seeking a Family and Community Education Practitioner to deliver a wide range of early-intervention supports to children, young people, families and communities in Albury. The role strengthens wellbeing and safety, enhances family functioning, and increases community participation, particularly for vulnerable or at-risk individuals.
Working collaboratively with schools, health providers and community organisations, the position promotes positive developmental outcomes, supports parents and caregivers through evidence-informed programs, and contributes to broader community-strengthening initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Program Delivery & Family Support
- Deliver targeted early-intervention supports to identify emerging needs and reduce risk for children, young people and families.
- Facilitate evidence-informed, child-focused parenting programs that strengthen parenting capacity and parent-child relationships.
- Provide structured education and practical strategies to help parents create safe, nurturing home environments.
- Offer individualised in-home and outreach parenting education.
- Provide direct support to children and young people through guidance, practical assistance and age-appropriate interventions.
Community Engagement & Collaboration
- Engage in community events, interagency meetings and collaborative projects with families and local services.
- Provide information, support and referrals for families in need.
- Work collaboratively with schools, early childhood services, health providers and community organisations to ensure coordinated, timely support.
- Contribute to community activities that increase social inclusion, family connections and community participation, with attention to Aboriginal communities.
Case Management & Service Coordination
- Ensure case management processes are structured, consistent and responsive.
- Monitor, review and evaluate client outcomes and manage waiting lists.
- Establish and maintain strong two-way referral pathways within local networks.
Service Quality & Practice Excellence
- Conduct needs analyses to ensure parenting programs are aligned with best-practice evidence and community priorities.
- Work within legal and ethical frameworks, including Family Law Act requirements and Centacare’s Clinical Governance Framework.
- Maintain accurate professional records and statistical data.
- Use and implement evidence-based, strengths-based and culturally responsive practices.
- Participate in supervision, professional development, team collaboration and continuous improvement activities.
Quality Assurance, Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to WHS requirements and contribute to a positive, respectful workplace.
- Comply with organisational policies, quality assurance processes and confidentiality standards.
- Contribute to audits, training and quality reviews to ensure program excellence.
Human Resources
- Participate in supervision, team meetings, and peer support activities.
- Support student placements by providing guidance aligned with Centacare values.
- Undertake additional duties as requested by the Education Manager.
Essential Requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Early Childhood Education, Community Services/Health, Counselling, Social Work, Social Sciences or related field.
- Demonstrated experience designing and delivering group education or psychoeducational programs for children, adolescents, families and organisations.
- Proven ability to develop and deliver inclusive, strengths-based programs tailored for diverse groups, including children, youth, families and NDIS participants.
- Experience in outreach and community engagement, particularly in school, community or family-support settings.
- Demonstrated experience delivering evidence-based group work across varied contexts.
- Strong understanding and practical application of Strengths-Based and Trauma-Informed practice.
- Ability to supervise and support university students on placement.
- High-level interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively and independently.
- Sensitivity to the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, Culturally and Linguistically Diverse clients, and people with disability or experiencing disadvantage.
Desirable
- Training or certification in Trauma-Informed Care, Child Protection, Family Systems Theory or Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST).
- Experience working with Aboriginal families and communities, including knowledge of culturally responsive and community-led practices.
- Experience delivering group education or community workshops in school, early learning or outreach settings.
- Knowledge of domestic and family violence frameworks and risk assessment tools.
- Understanding of child development, neurodiversity and additional support needs (e.g. NDIS, disability supports).
- Experience in case coordination or collaborative practice with allied health, education or community agencies.
- Ability to develop program resources, workshop materials or digital learning tools.
- Familiarity with data collection systems, CRMs or client management software.
- Current accreditation or willingness to complete additional training relevant to parenting education or early-intervention programs.
