Centacare South West NSW is seeking a Community Engagement Coordinator to be a part of our team at
headspace Griffith
The aim of Community Engagement Coordinator is to promote the services of headspace Griffith and help young people receive early access to mental health and other services. We want to get the information out there! Making sure its accessible to young people, their families and the local community.
The purpose of the role is to increase the awareness of mental health issues among our young people, facilitate youth and family participation, organise and deliver health promotion activities and community events across
Griffith and to broader community.

Essential requirements
- Experience consulting with young people including knowledge of and sensitivity to the mental health needs of young people (12-25 years) and their families.
- Experience coordinating and facilitating youth programs, events, and activities within a community setting.
- Social media is where it is all at-so you will need to be GREAT at this.
- You MUST be a great communicator. This is all about your interpersonal skills and being a collaborator.
- Sensitivity to the needs of all people with special needs including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, Cultural and Linguistically Diverse clients, Young People with Disabilities and Young People who identify as LGBTQIA+.
- Must obtain or willingness to obtain a Working With Children Check, Police Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check
Desirable
- Diploma (community services, counselling, or youth work) and/ or experience in event management/ community engagement.
- Tertiary qualifications in Health Promotion, Public Health, Community Development, Social/Behavioural Science, Social Work/Planning, or related discipline.
- Experience in the not for profit/non-government sector.
- Experience in the mental health sector.
