This one is for the helping professionals! We see you!
With millions of Australians currently subject to lockdowns and restrictions, when we heard on the news this week that Lifeline recently recorded its busiest days in its nearly 60-year history, we were not that surprised.
As a community services organisation that provides counselling, we too have noticed steady increases in demand for services over the past few months and when our clients have attended their appointments recently they are often speaking about the negative impacts this pandemic is having on them and their families.
Although we are the helping professionals, it is important to recognize that we too are living this COVID-nightmare, so perhaps now more than ever we need to be really mindful of our own self-care and practice what we preach! Things like keeping a consistent routine, exercising, taking a break from technology – you know the drill – are all super important.
Staying connected with friends, families and colleagues is also something we should keep striving to do regularly. With R U OK? Day fast approaching, perhaps use this as an opportunity to reach out and connect? Here at Centacare we will be doing just that!
Lastly, we just want to say a big THANK YOU to the people that work across this sector. We see you and we appreciate the amazing work that you do!
